We are Anastasia and Casey Houston and we wanted to introduce ourselves with the hope you will be excited to share your home with us and also have good peace of mind knowing who you are renting to. We hope you find it helpful!
Please do get in touch if you have any questions at all or if you would like to discuss last-minute or long-term stay pricing or working directly together. We can be reached at thehoustonsjax@gmail.com and will provide our direct mobile numbers via email.
Thank you for considering us as guests in your home. We appreciate the trust and will take great care of it as if it were our own!
Sincerely,
Anastasia and Casey Houston
Luna and Dodger

We currently reside in our hometown of Jacksonville, Florida in the cute beaches community of Atlantic Beach. We are high-school and college sweethearts who happily reunited in our 30’s and have been together for the past 10 years. Anastasia has a big, tight-knit family (she is the oldest of 5!) and most everyone lives in Jacksonville which makes life fun with the 10 nieces and nephews, her parents and Casey’s family as well.
We both enjoy the ability to work from just about anywhere; Anastasia as a luxury travel planner catering to discerning clientele and Casey as an IT network provider and engineer. No kids for us (yet) but we do enjoy our 2 companion pups, Luna and Dodger, who go everywhere with us.
Our shared passions are traveling, anything outdoor adventure related (hiking, paddling, trail running, mountain biking, camping), tennis, running, cooking and dining out, scuba diving and snorkeling, surfing and horseback riding – we lead a very active life which makes us appreciate the comforts of home all the more in our downtime!
We are very passionate about the environment through conservation, reducing waste, and preserving our tree canopy. Anastasia also dedicates her efforts to animal rescue through fostering and spay-neuter programs.

Since we are only 2 people, we will “live” in a small footprint of your home, typically only utilizing the kitchen, great room, master bed and bath, and outdoor spaces. We usually spend half the day exploring the area and half the day working from home so the dogs are always with us enjoying the hikes or laying by our side.
So without further ado, meet our rescue pups!

Luna is an 8-year-old Doberman who is the most lovable, loyal, and intelligent “velcro” dog there is. Dodger is our happy-go-lucky lab mix who we fostered 6 years ago and just couldn’t let go of. They are a sweet bonded pair who are happiest when they are by our side. They LOVE to hike, paddle, and explore or simply chill on their beds (which we bring with us) while we are working.
Both dogs are fully-trained with a reliable recall and are of course housebroken and crate trained although we never have a reason to crate them since they aren’t destructive in any way. We keep a clean home both in our own house and when traveling and are very conscientious and respectful renters; always cleaning dirty shoes and paws before coming inside and picking up after the dogs’ business outside. Although we love them dearly, we don’t allow them on our furniture at home and they always know their place in other people’s homes too.
If you welcome children into your home, you are going to love our low-impact, well-mannered, and chill dogs as guests! We frequently stay at “no pets allowed” homes to rave reviews and they will no doubt be the perfect house guests for you too.

We have rented a lot of homes and try to visit North Carolina at least twice a year; always on the hunt for our own vacation home. If we were to describe our ideal home rental in general, it would include:
- Luxury living in a more quiet, private, or remote location; long-range views are a plus but at least lovely forest views
- Close proximity to a lot of great hiking and somewhat close to a town for restaurants and a grocery store (within 45 minutes max drive ideally)
- Great room with a lot of light and comfortable seating; gas fireplace a large plus
- Warm and cozy ambiance, uncluttered and clean
- Connectivity is critical we must have a reliable broadband internet connection since we will be working from the home. Satellite service won’t work unless it is Starlink. Strong cell service is also preferred but we can potentially do without as long as there is a reliable internet connection.
- Well-stocked and clean kitchen with a blender, complete sets of cookware, pots/pans, glassware, wine glasses, etc. We usually bring our own coffee maker/chefs knives/cutting boards/tupperware/spices just in case but it’s always nice to have a thoughtfully equipped kitchen
- Comfortable outdoor seating on a deck or patio as we spend a lot of time working from the home and outside
- Comfortable King mattress with newer linens and/or extra linens
- Walk-in shower rather than a combined tub/shower, at least in the Master bath is preferred
